"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." - Oliver Wendell Holmes

So, that is essentially the basis for human right, saying once you inflict harm on another, your "rights" end.

Why isn't bullying the same? As soon as you start threatening another or hurting them with words, your rights should end. If you mentally abuse someone enough to make them feel small enough with no way to escape the abuse except to kill themselves, then you should be held accountable, especially if there is record of it (ex: internet harassment). Why is it so hard for congress to make a law against bullying? Yeah, with the videos homosexal celebrities are putting ot may help a little bit... but when you are gettin bullied that much for something you have NO choice in, its going to be hard to remember those videos saying it will get better when you cant see any way that it can possibly getting better.

For example, the ass hole school board guy who went off on a Facebook rant basically saying that all gay kids should kill themselves because it is a sin and that if his children were gay he would disinherit them should not have the right to use such hateful speech. Why isn't this threatening horrendous post to Facebook considered in the same context as "The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins."? Mental abuse is just as harmful, if not more so, then physical abuse, it stays with someone longer than a bruise will.

Another example, the crazy religious zealots who were outside the military funeral saying "Thank God for dead soldiers," "God blew up the troops" and "AIDS cures fags." Why is this OK? I understand freedom of speech, but again, if this were some type of physical altercation, it would be akin to inflicting physical harm on another person, which is when your rights end. Why is it ok to vocalize harm against another person for being different, for not fitting into your tiny little box? If someone actually inflicted physical harm, they wold be arrested, so why isn't there a punishment for vocalizing harm?

Congress is talking about passing a law against bullying, but they need to do it already. people need to be accountable for their words as well as their actions, because after all...

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

its only a matter of time until these people's words become their actions.

OK, So I am absolutely in love and obsessed with Taylor Swift's new CD. I love it. Its amazing. But this song, Dear John, totally speaks to my last relationship (minus the too young part since I was the older one).

Dear John - Taylor Swift Speak Now

Long were the nights when the days once revolved around you
Counting the footsteps, praying the floor wont fall through
Again
And my mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine

You paint me a blue sky
And go back and turn it to rain
And I lived in your chess game but you changed the rules everyday
Wondering which version of you I might get on the phone
Tonight
Well I stopped picking up and this song is to let you know why

Dear john I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with
The girl in the dress cried the whole way home
Should have known
Well maybe it's me and my blind optimism to blame
Maybe it's you and you're sick need to give love and take it away
And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors who don't understand
And il look back and regret who I ignored when they said run as fast as you can

Dear john I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with
The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home

Dear john, I see it all now that was wrong
Don't you think nineteens too young to be played by your dark twisted games
When I loved you so
I should have known

You are an expert at sorry
And keeping lines blurry
Never impressed by me acing your tests
All the girls that you...
Who talk

Cause you burned them out
But I took your matches before fire could catch me
So don't look now
I'm shining like fireworks
Over your...

Dear john I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with
The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home
I see it all that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with
The girl in the dress who wrote you a song
You should have known
You should have known

Don't you think I was too young
You should have known

I'm ready for a change. Or five.

I'm ready to be in grad school and finally working towards my career and not be stuck in this black hole of undergraduate studies, taking stupid classes required for my major but will have nothing to do with my career in the long run. I am tired of working so hard for a class that will eventually mean nothing. While I love the way "I'm taking organic chemistry" sounds, all the prestige behind it being a smart class and knowing I will pass it... when will I ever use organic chemistry in physical therapy? Yeah. I cant think of a time either.

I'm ready to be brunette again. Blonde is fun and all... but I am just ready to be that super dark haired seductive violet eyed mysterious girl. Not that my eyes appear violet more often when I am brunette, but I like to pretend they do. Plus, its such a rare color it makes me more mysterious when they turn that color.

I'm ready for a new boyfriend. I have someone specific in mind. Younger, go figure, but he seems much more responsible and mature than the previous younger guys I was interested in. Yes, this is the person that I was supposed to ask on a date... which obviously i have not yet.... I just like when the guy does it ok! But I know I am definitely ready. I am tired of waiting. I want it to happen soon, or for this to be done because I don't need to get more emotionally invested for it to go nowhere. I've never been the type of person to just casually date for a few months then call it good. I want someone in my life now, I want him in my life in a more stable manner.

I'm ready to leave Pullman. Small town life is NOT for me. I've made some amazing friends and I love them to death, but I am so over living in this godforsaken town. Its to small. There isn't really a variety in nightlife, unless you count the different frat parties which get old when you are ready for a relationship since I don't want some guy grinding his nadz all over my bootay. No thanks.

I'm definitely ready to travel again. Its been too long since I last adventured out of the country, I think it needs to happen again soon. Studying abroad will definitely help, but that cant happen for another 11 months. I'd prefer to travel over christmas, since i mildly despise that holiday. If I don't get myself a beau before thanksgiving, i will severely despise that holiday. But regardless, europe during christmas will not be happening anytime soon.

I'm just ready for all these changes to take place now.

So. I think I've decided to ask someone on a date.... I've never done this before. I'm a little nervous. I'm usually pretty old school, I prefer the guy to ask me, but I want to see what could happen with this guy and I'm a little impatient.
This could get interesting.
